| Monday, February 20, 2012 | Venta Taberna de Urbaneja BP garage between Km15 and 16 on A355. | We leave the venta walking behind a small industrial building into the foot hills below Sierra Alpujata. We pass through avocado groves and almond trees until we reach the Mancha Valley with a view of the white cliffs of a dolomite quarry (dolomite is used in glass making and furnace linings). Turning away from the quarry we walk along the side of the valley looking down onto the river, Rio Pereilas, running through the rich fertile valley. We loop round and have a short incline after which we pass up through pine woods ending, eventually, back at our starting point. | 7 - 8 | Easy to Medium | Rio Pereilas Valley, Monda - Country Walk | Country Walk |

After a short break we return and walk down to the N 340 on different roads. We cross over a bridge on the N 340 in order to come to the beach. We walk along the beach to the small port of Cabo Pino, where we can take refreshments before we return through woods to our initial meeting point with the car park. | Monday, April 2, 2012 | Aluminios San Vincente, A404, Coin - 10.30am (Leave A355 at Km8 direction Coin) | We start at the "Toblerone" bridge over the Rio Pereilas. We proceed along the tarmac road through arable country side. Except for two short easy hills, at the start and halfway, the route is very flat. After about 4km we take a track down to a Eucalyptus grove next to the Rio Grande. I suggest that you walk these few hundred yards quietly, taking in the sights and sound of an authentic Spanish country lane. At the river we will rest, picnic, paddle, whatever pleases you, before returning along the same route. | 9 | Easy | Country Walk | |
| Monday, April 16, 2012 | Istan - Hotel Altos de Istan (above the sports complex) | Walking from the Hotel Altos de Istan we follow Moorish irrigation channels then head north along a good road for about 4 Km. We will take a short break admiring the wonderful views over the valley. Then we turn down along a track that takes us through orange groves, back towards the village. About 2 km from the village we take a narrow track passing over a stream by a wooden bridge before climbing a short sharp incline back into Istan. Well deserved refreshments are available in the Plaza (if we can find it in the narrow streets). | 7 | Easy to Medium | Country Walk | |
| Monday, April 30, 2012 | Monda Car Park | We leave Monda car and walk through the village and down into the Alpujata Valley passing an old lime kiln on the way. We walk to the other side of the valley and up quite a steep gradient into the pine woods. Once at the top of the incline it's, more or less, downhill all the way. After leaving the pine forest we walk down towards a small poligono then along a narrow path that leads us back to Monda, where we can take refreshments next to the fountain. | 7 - 8 | Medium | Country Walk | |
| Monday, May 14, 2012 | Aluminios San Vincente, A404, Coin - 10.30am (Leave A355 at Km8 direction Coin) | We drive to the start point at the bridge over the Rio Grande. Passing by orchards of various friuts, we make our way into rural Spain. Walking above the Rio Grande taking in the views of the Sierras de las Nieves and the spring flowers. We take a hill up a stoney track for about 300m where we loop round before returning along the same route. Afterwards we can take refreshments at a local venta. | 7.5 | Easy to Medium | Country Walk | |
| Monday, June 11, 2012 | Monda Car Park , We drive to the start of the walk | We drive from Monda to the start of the walk at las Huertas de Coin, which is a small hamlet in the country side between Guaro and Coin. On the way to the start we ford the Rio Grande river. No problem for cars, very shallow on a concrete road. When we start, we walk down to a bridge over the Rio Grande and then up a fairly easy hill next to fields and agricultural land. The views of the Sierra de las Nieves are spectacular. The route is circular and we cross an easy stream, then back over the Rio Grande using a different bridge. We pass close to farmsteads with cattle in the yards back to our start point. | 8 | Easy | Country Walk | |

We will stop for refreshment at a viewing place then work our way back to Monda. The walk will take approximately 2 hrs and finish at a local bar by the fountain in Monda. | 7 | Easy to Medium | Country Walk |
